This effortless party was a prelude to a fantastically fun and stylish wedding. A big thanks to Snippet and Ink for the lovely feature and especially to the team below. I'm so lucky to have such lovely events and couples to photograph.

Holga Whoops

Wednesday, September 21, 2011 | Weddings

Probably what I love most about shooting with film is the thrill of getting it back. Every now and then I get a few surprises...like this one of Allison and Rob's wedding last month. The Holga camera has a manual advance, so you have to wind a little knob to get to the next photo. In the fast paced moment of the recessional I didn't advance, snapping them coming towards me and walking away--as I switched to and from another camera. I thought it captured this moment quite beautifully. Even more cool, the groom is a Holga user himself.

We loooooved shooting Alexandra and John's May wedding, it was all so effortless, beautiful and fun. I especially loved the groom's brothers bluegrass band that did 80s covers, I didn't want it to end! Enjoy....

Fifteen Eleven

Tuesday, September 13, 2011 | News

If you've driven down King Street in the past few weeks, you might have noticed a new sign hanging out front of our office. Fifteen Eleven, a curated paper goods shop, will be opening its doors on 9/15/11 in our rowhouse at 1511 King Street in Alexandria, Virginia. I'm so excited for my good friend Suann Song (of Simplesong Design) who dreamed up the shop and worked tirelessly to see it come to life. The shop will carry cards, stationary, notebooks, totes and small gifts by many notable paper designers. The official opening is this Thursday; the hours will be Tuesday through Saturday, 11 am to 6 pm. As a resident of Old Town, I'm excited for a fun new shop to open here. We've all been poking our heads in the shop and I can't stop checking things out in there. It's all so beautiful and inspiring. I'm so proud of Suann!

The shop is located in what was our meeting space at the Hive at 1511, which has now expanded upstairs. Myself and Ritzy Bee Events have moved into our own offices on the second floor and Simplesong Design is now in the back first floor rooms. We're all excited about the expansion and to have more space for meeting clients, prepping for weddings, photoshoots and all the other buzz that goes on around here! If you're in the neighborhood, be sure to stop in Fifteen Eleven.
